The GMAT is a standardized aptitude test developed by the Graduate Management Admission Council to assess the skills of students in pursuit of an MBA degree from an accredited university. It is designed to measure the students possibility of success in business school through attempting to measure several skill sets. The GMAT test attempts to measure the skills acquired through the high school and college years.

GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test. It involves mathematical, analytical writing skills and general verbal skills. It is a computer based test offered at several test centers worldwide at various times throughout the year.
If you're considering entering business school, it is important to understand what the GMAT test is and about GMAT test preparation because over 1,000 graduate management programs and over 850 universities worldwide use GMAT scores as part of their admissions process.

Most U.S. business graduate schools require you to sit in on the GMAT test as part of the admission process. There are no specific dates to take the GMAT test. It is offered at different centers at different times that can be found on the GMAT website along with any registration information.

The basic structure of the GMAT test consists of three parts that measures quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning and analytical writing skills. The verbal section entails 42 questions that need to be completed in 75 minutes. This section tests your ability to understand when reading written material, to be able to reason and evaluate arguments and also to correct written material so that it conforms to standard written English.

The Quantitative Section consists of 37 questions that must be completed in 75 minutes. This is designed to test your ability to express your ideas correctly in written English and to improve incorrect or ineffective expressions.

The Analytical Writing Section tests your ability to analyze and evaluate issues and arguments. You have two 30 minutes  writing tasks for a total of having to complete this part of the exam in 60 minutes.

As you can see, there needs to be thorough GMAT test preparation in order to get a high score. There are GMAT practice exams as well as booklets available for download in order to help you to prepare. These will go a long way to help you improve in the above skill areas mentioned to help you achieve a higher score.

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of your grade, you can always retake the test, however you can only take it once per month since all previous scores are sent to the universities to which you are applying for your management program. Being admitted to a good management college depends solely on your GMAT test so don’t take it just for practice. If you want to practice taking the test, make sure you find a GMAT exam prep course to help you. Your score on the GMAT test will depend on how many questions you have answered correctly so make sure you go forward with your best possible efforts. That's why GMAT test preparation is essential.
